Death By Holga

In the summer of 2010, I was watching a documentary on the Kennedy assassination here in Dallas, Texas. The documentary wasn’t anything that I had not seen or heard before, except this documentary focused mainly on Lee Harvey Oswald. Most Kennedy documentaries focus on the president and his family. And as usual, it showed Cecil Stoughton’s photograph of Vice-president Johnson being sworn in on Air Force One at Dallas Love Field by Judge Sarah Hughes.

No sooner than I heard the name, Judge Sarah Hughes, I wondered if she was still alive. I searched on Google and discovered Judge Hughes passes away in 1985. I then searched on Find A Grave and saw that she was buried in Dallas, not far from where I live.

From there I started putting together a list of all the people involved with the Kennedy presidency and assassination to see who was alive, dead and where were they located. Lucky for me the number one person on my list, Lee Harvey Oswald, was buried in Fort Worth. Others, like Judge Hughes, Abraham Zapruder and Dallas officials are all buried in Dallas.

My original idea was to do a book titled Dead in Dallas, but an author had already secured the domain name. My next choice was Death By Holga.

Death By Holga is somewhat morose, but it is also fun. Think of it like death by chocolate, where too much of a good thing is wonderful … and fattening.

After securing the Death By Holga (this site) domain, I started thinking about other Death By Holga photography books I could create. The First book will be Death By Holga: 11.22.63 followed by Death By Holga: Dallas & Fort Worth.

My books will contain photographs of people living or dead. They will have old buildings, cars, amusement parks and grave diggers. Whatever I can put together into a visual pleasing book will be included.

I am sure you will like what you see.
